  2. @sortius I'm confused by this entire paragraph though!! Weren't ATAR / UAI / TER "scores" supposed to replace scores with ranks? That's why we went from TES to TER — it's in the name.

Of course, none of the old ones offered a year-to-year analysis. Is that actually implicit in the design now?

(My year 11 computing studies project was an actual database simulator and calculator of HSC -> TES -> TER scaling and ranking)

"Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff, has played a leading role in directing US strikes against suspected Venezuelan drug boats, according to three people familiar with the situation. At times, his role has superseded that of Marco Rubio, the secretary of state and national security adviser."

  7. In Japan, where there is strong peer pressure, it is quite difficult for children to continue to be different from those around them.
However, if their parents agree with the kids, they can continue with a lot of peace of mind.

I try to think about my child without being bound by fixed ideas called "common sense."

  8. How long will we continue to “compete with others”?
I have been thinking about this often lately.

    Competition within the school.
    Compete in exams.
    Compete for jobs.
Compete for advancement in the workplace.

I recently stopped participating in competitions that I didn't want to participate in.
All thanks to my son who doesn't go to school.

  9. My son, who has sensory sensitivities and food allergies, can eat only a few kinds of food..
The people around him who saw him often said, “I feel sorry for him''.
But to my son himself, it was probably an ``unnecessary remark.''

And since I'm a small person, I was a little annoyed by that condescending remark...

  10. I try not to mind my son's day/night reversal and unstable sleep rhythm.
However, when we have breakfast with my wife, we talk about our son's sleep, saying things like, ``It looks like he went to bed early last night,'' or ``he stayed up until 3 a.m.''

  11. It is extremely important for a father and a mother to move in the same direction at home.
If you don't do that, there will be a lot of stress in the house, and sensitive children will feel it.
This is my reflection (as a father) four years ago when my son stopped attending school.

  12. In case you didn’t know, students sat the #mathematics #HSC (higher school certificate) exams in NSW yesterday. Here’s a sample of questions in the “standard” paper 👇🏼

  13. Children are obsessed with what they like.

I used to say, “Don't do that, just do your homework early,'' but after my son stopped going to school, I realized that “doing what you love is important for developing your own talents.''
Now I try not to say anything.

  14. I don't think my son will be able to adapt to a Japanese company in the future.
If that's the case, I think overseas where it's more free, but apart from language, his unsociability also seems to be a big problem.
I dream of living a carefree life abroad without peer pressure, but there are other challenges...

  15. Now, I no longer ask my sons, “Would you like to try ○○?'' (I used to do this, but it didn't make any sense😢)
Every day I pay attention to whether they have any special talents or what they are interested in.
But I do not suggest anything to them.

  16. What I have come to strongly feel from my experiences with sons’ school refusal, PTA, and neighborhood associations is that everyone's tastes and ideas are different.

This should be obvious, but in Japan there is a strong precedent-based mentality and peer pressure that says, “We have to do this''
Moreover though we say “value diversity,'' we do not acknowledge it.
