Driving really is the worst form of transport (when it becomes normalised beyond certain use cases)

Here in #Albania, society went through a speed run of 20th century car centric development since the fall of #Hoxha in the 90s and the ensuing civil war. Now, the car's role is well reinforced by a toxic mix of #nationalism, #masculinism, cars as status symbols, habits, and actually locked in infrastructure and commercial choices.

➡️ Übrigens geht es auch ansonsten in beunruhigender Weise "heiß her" in #Albanien. Das hat schon üble "6. Januar"-Vibes. Klar ist an Rama vieles kritikwürdig (nicht zuletzt sein unmenschlicher Deal mit Meloni), aber dass ausgerechnet Berisha die Alternative sein soll, der korrupte, rechtskonservative, 79 jährige Ex-Privatarzt von Ex-Diktator #Hoxha, der dessen Kurs nach dem vermeintlichen Ende der Diktatur in den 90ern einstweilen fortsetzte...
