  3. Sneaking in a few days in Dublin before heading back to work next week. Beautiful weather today for a train trip to Howth, walking on the cliffs for a couple of hours. The smell of that gorse..

  8. The Howth gun-running involved the delivery of 1,500 Mauser rifles to the Irish Volunteers at Howth harbour in Ireland on 26 July 1914. The unloading of guns from a private yacht during daylight hours attracted a crowd, and the authorities ordered police and military intervention. Despite this the Volunteers evaded the security forces and carried away the arms.

  11. Sutton to the Hill of Howth.
Queues and great excitement in Sutton as passengers vie to get one last trip on a tram from Sutton to Howth. The service was suspended on 31 May 1959 and replaced by a bus service.
The two motorists are C.F. Grant and J. Nugent in a 1910 Swift.
Sunday, 31 May 1959. The National Library of Ireland. No known copyright restrictions.

  12. Yesterday’s ride through the Mourne Mountains was rewarding in terms of views. Most interesting for me was this headland I noticed. Pulling out G Maps and drawing an line, I was amazed to find out it is Howth Head in Dublin about 50 miles 80 km away. #northernireland #Mournes #dublin #howth #cyclinglife #BikeTooter

  13. Climate Change. As we traveled out to Howth today, it blew my mind to see a huge residential development under construction on the Howth Road... literally next to Claremont Beach.

Dublin needs more housing. Lots of it. But even as government departments pay lip service to the fact Climate Change is a real threat, we are nonetheless granting planning permission for apartment complexes on the beach. Make up your bloody minds!
