  1. House of Cards Chardonnay makes history with perfect IWSC score

Margaret River winery House of Cards has achieved a historic result at the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), with its 2025 Ace High Chardonnay becoming the first wine to receive a perfect 100…

Israel-aligned VC funding is a big reason I left that enshittified platform and help others ditch the big tech house of cards creating by investors forcing their investments to utilize the services of their other investments.

To use snubstack as an example, paid subs pay Stripe (paypal mafia). Nearly everything (ko-fi, gofundme, etc… processes through paypal, actually.

You CAN throw a Zelle QR code on it.

  3. 🥴 Oh, those Belgian politicians! Risking treason charges just to sidestep the terrifying reality of trusting engineers 😱. It's like preferring to build a house of cards on a windy day instead of hiring an architect because... why not? 🃏🔧

"These long-running, parallelized workflows can yield great value, but they have also challenged our infrastructure and pricing structure: it’s now common for a handful of requests to incur costs that exceed the plan price! These are our problems to solve. The actions we are taking today enable us to provide the best possible experience for existing users while we develop a more sustainable solution." — Joe Binder, VP of Product

If people are already _commonly_ exceeding set monthly quotas/costs with just a handful of requests, you all have got much bigger problems, customers/users too (i.e. becoming deeply dependent on externally controlled & rented infrastructure from day one of your project/startup, plus slowly damaging your own cognitive abilities and a fast growing maintenance nightmare)! And this all is just the beginning... 🍿

Keeping up with other news about growing mineral, energy & supply chain shortages, the illusion that this might just be very short term, and the resulting cost bumps needed to produce and provision all the outstanding data center capacities at the heart of the above decisions (and similar ones made by Anthropic just days ago), I really don't understand where this optimism of AI boosters/users is coming from or on what planet they're living on...

genAI/agenticAI is a shoddily implemented/managed/secured technology & mentality for a computing-illiterate consumerist society, for an age of infinite resource abundance with stable climate/politics, all of which we're leaving (or have never really been in)! And that departure is partially driven/accelerated by said tech...

Instead of funneling trillions into this particular tech, we need focus/investment into methods, infrastructure, research/education, relationships, and above all, a culture focused on how to make computing magnitudes more sustainable, accessible, independent and which allows us to do generally more with less. Or, at least not with magnitudes more, just for some dubious, unspecified (and meaningless) measure of improved "productivity gains"... With almost no one ever questioning what this supposed extra productivity is even good for...

‘By Design’ Flaw in MCP Could Enable Widespread AI Supply Chain Attacks

"Researchers warn that a flaw in Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol allows unsanitized commands to execute silently, enabling full system compromise across widely used AI environments."

"OX extensively tested whether this ‘flaw’ was exploitable, extensively succeeded, and extensively disclosed its findings to the MCP providers; from Anthropic downward. Initially it had little response. Eventually, the common response was inaction coupled with the suggestion that this behavior was ‘by design’.

But OX discovered, and demonstrated, that this ‘by design’ behavior could be easily exploited, leaving potentially millions of downstream users exposed to sensitive data, API key and internal corporate data theft, the exposure of chat histories, and more. If the process that MCP failed included malware, that malware could be silently installed, potentially leading to complete system takeover."

  6. “There was, there always was, at the start and finish…the Code. They lived by the Code. You followed the Code, and you became part of the Code for those who followed you. The Code was it. Without the Code you weren’t a hero. You were just a thug in a loincloth.”

  7. If you're looking for evidence that the U.S. economy in 2026 is being held up by a clown-car of financial chicanery far beyond anything the C-Suite at Enron imagined, look no further than Digital Asset Treasury companies, which are themselves a grift built on a grift, claiming to stabilize their own finances by purchasing stock… of each other.

If you're reading only one thing today, let it be this thread below, connecting the Straight of Hormuz with the recursive risks & dependencies to fertilizers, food safety, energy, minerals, EV & AI build out, asymmetric military spending (also just saw another related report about US stockpile depletion in Financial Times) etc.

  9. 🎩🧐 So, apparently, you can now graduate from Not A Lawyer Academy and become a #GPL wizard! You don't need actual legal guidance, just trust this random text — it’s as solid as a house of cards in a hurricane. 🌪️🔮 Who needs lawyers when you've got this dazzling array of disclaimers? 🙄📜

  10. To make some of these points more concrete:

A choice is being made when governments & municipalities are providing tax rebates and subsidized deals on land and/or energy/water for AI data centers, often to the detriment of the local population. Data centers provide little in terms of employment and the rising energy prices are carried by everyone else, also impacting other existing businesses. This is not counting other important aspects like re-zoning, noise pollution, construction of supply roads/lines, (dirty) energy sources, all of which (in total) should be considered to counter-balance any promised gains from mass building such infrastructure. Many of these data centers are built in areas already suffering water stress, which is only going to get more intense!

A choice is being made when education policymakers and universities decide to become AI sales people and that AI education should be constrained to students becoming effective/uncritical users of AI tech, rather than using higher education as a platform to critically/objectively research and examine this technology and its costs/impacts on many different aspects of society (energy, ethics, inequality, legal issues, security, sovereignty...)

A choice is being made when company bosses are forcing staff to adopt AI or be pushed out, even if this adoption arguably has at the very least a considerable risk of damaging the health of the company and employees long term (via various well-documented risk factors, incl. chronic fatigue or the introduction of company-wide core dependencies on external, unsustainable, VC-backed subscription-based infrastructure/services, whose fees are almost guaranteed to sky-rocket in the foreseeable future). Also worth mentioning here are two new buzzwords terms surfacing currently: Cognitive Debt and Semantic Ablation

A choice is being made by governments adopting AI for policing and preparing for social unrest, investing billions into surveillance instead of lowering inequality and improving social services, social mobility & cohesion (e.g. financed via higher taxes obtained from the super rich).

A choice is being made when investment & grant opportunities for anything but AI-related businesses are deemed too risky and not worthwhile, essentially forcing AI features into any new business idea which requires external financing and thereby funneling more and more people/infrastructure into this growing spiral of dependencies and into this pyramid system of subscription-based computing, with less than a handful of companies at the very top.

    Choices...
