Este ano, decidimos fazer uma Hora do Código com arte. O desafio aos alunos de 5º ano foi o de vir desenhar para a aula de TIC, aprendendo a programar desenhos generativos usando o ambiente de programação Scratch.

Uma atividade que deixa sempre os alunos surpreendidos.

I did an #HourOfCode style workshop at my local #library, where I presented a scene from #GodOfWarRagnarok and helped kids through some practice exercises in scratch/python that accomplished something similar. Towards the end of the session, I gave them the option to keep #coding or doing a Q&A on anything regarding God of War development or working in #gamdev.

And almost all of them opted to keeping working on the programming exercises! (Which was 100% okay with me.)

I had the pleasure of volunteering in my daughter's 1st-grade classroom today for #hourofcode. I told the kids that the T-shirt I was wearing was from the best adult coding summer camp around. And I even bought a few duplicate hex stickers to give out. Hopefully, one of those kids walked away as excited about coding as I am. #rstats #datascience #rstudioconf #posit

I'm curious if anyone has recommendations on course material, websites for high school kids to learn coding. There are 2 goals. Goal 1 is to expose them to coding so they see it as a good skill like math they can use in the future. Goal 2 is to get them enough exposure so they know whether they want to choose computer science for a college degree.

I found freecodecamp.org, codecademy.com to be pretty good.
