21 #QueenAreTheChampions day 5️⃣
Hot Space is the last album of "a trilogy in funky space".
And what a funky album Hot Space is.
But when it came out, fans and cirtics hated it alike.
But Michael Jackson (who was friends with the band) loved it, and cited Hot Space as an influence for Thriller.
I too really dig this! 🕺👯💃

"Hot Space" by Queen released in May 1982.
Based on the information I can secure through sources like Wikipedia, and AllMusic.com, etc., this album was released on May 4 or 21 in 1982. If you have contradictory information I am perfectly willing to change my calendar upon considering the new information.

I grew up with my mum playing Queen Greates Hits on a tape in the car (among ther great music. Thanks, mum!). The first studio album I bought, primarily because of the cover art (and probably a discount), was Hot Space. I was probably 14. It is safe to say it isn't a favourite album among fans (or the band!).
The point of this post is to observe that it remains one of my favourite Queen albums. I can see the issues, but I can overlook them - or even revel in them.
Is this because I came to this first (on my own)?
I wonder if this is a common phenomenon - starting with the accepted 'worst' end of things, but because you started there, you love it!

Also, I love this song. It arrived when I was 18 and in a very good part of my teenage years 😘
I was in a minority of Queen fans in my peer group in loving the Hot Space album it’s on.
Those others have come round to my viewpoint in the 40 years since then. 🥳
