Реверс-инжиниринг карт Heroes of Might and Magic III: Horn of the Abyss + парсер на Python
Мне стало любопытно: смогу ли я распарсить карту HotA и написать такой парсер, который сможет быстро отвечать на вопросы вроде: «Где можно выучить заклинание “Городской портал”?», «Где найти артефакт, например, Чёрный шар?», «Есть ли в тюрьме герой Джелу?» и всё в таком духе. А ещё я решил, что искать в интернете готовые спецификации скучно. Гораздо интереснее попробовать разобраться самому. Прямо с нуля. Как будто интернета нет, а есть только карты, низкоуровневые редакторы и желание понять, что там внутри. В этой статье как раз и будут мои низкоуровневые мучения и исследования. Буду смотреть в байты, сравнивать карты, ошибаться, находить закономерности и постепенно вытаскивать из файла осмысленные данные. Если вся эта археология неинтересна, можно просто промотать ближе к концу, взять готовый парсер и наконец узнать, где же на карте можно выучить «Городской портал».

А вы играли в #HoTA ? Это которое Heroes Of Might and Magic Horn of the Abyss. Я что-то слышал об этом, но на этих выходных поиграл. Честно, очень круто прокачанная версия классических #HoMM3
и там СУПЕР прокаченный ИИ. Если в обычные HoMM3 я играю на сложнаяти Normal, то тут я огребаю на нормале только в путь )

Bike needed a thorough clean today. My least favourite thing about winter #cycling is all the bike cleaning. So much water yesterday all the oil was washed off my chain & I squeaked back into London

Для Героев III вышло долгожданное полномасштабное обновление — Фабрика. Почему это по-настоящему уникальное явление?
Если судить по группе ВК, дополнение вышло где-то 31 декабря в 7:38 минут по Москве. Новость дошла до меня где-то за час-два до нового года. Если вы в курсе, то думаю вы уже или без меня ознакомились или вот, прочитав новость, побежите прямо сейчас и статья для вас тут по сути заканчивается). Сначала Doom порадовал ... а сейчас Герои. Если вы не в теме, то в остатке заметки попробую рассказать пару слов о том, почему: это дополнение важно, почему люди ждали его пять лет и почему это абсолютно уникальное явление для "игровой индустрии" (и да, там есть и кампания, и мультиплеерное обновление, и редактор карт новый, и музыка и новый замок). Я с трудом удержал себя от того, чтобы не засесть на пару суток проходить кампанию залпом, но конце расскажу своё мнение про первые две карты (я специально не спешу). Итак, обо всём по порядку. И почему же HotA так уникальна?

I really want #HoMM3 to be fun, I even setup #HotA, but I don't remember how strong creatures are, and I'm tired of looking it up. I appreciate knowing about how many there are, but that's not really the problem. 😦
If anyone knows of a quick reference chart, add-on, or something like that, it would be very helpful.
I love the whole fantasy world and the creatures, but I don't want to put in a ton of hours just to be able to play properly.

I'm John Cutting (he/him), a writer, artist, veteran, and long-time lover of fantasy, science fiction, and RPGs.
✍️ I wrote two complete (and one in-progress) sprite comics all set in the same universe that are story-driven, epic fantasies rather than comedy-driven stories. If you enjoy the SNES RPGs from the Golden Age of Square Enix, then I think you will like my stories.
👻Fortuna Saga (https://fortunasaga.com/?webcomic2=canticle-2) involves an isolated nation suddenly encountering the outside world after generations of solitude.
⚔️Hymns of the Apostate (https://fortunasaga.com/?webcomic3=canticle-3) occurs some time after the Fortuna Saga in a world without magic that involves the intrigue between nations, faiths, and rediscovery of forgotten secrets.
✨Lost Noise (https://fortunasaga.com/?webcomic1=canticle-1) is a prequel to the previous stories. It is currently a work in-progress, but I'm excited about how this world will expand and comment on the themes of the previous two stories.
🎨 I write, paint with oils, photoshop, code, and make pixel art. For my job, I consult with companies to help them run more ethically, sustainably, and with a strong focus on people and society.
🍿 I love movies, role playing games, and world history. I lived in Japan for many years, and my partner and children are fluent Japanese speakers. So, you can also expect a lot of these perspectives as well.
