  1. Aonishiki gives up an average of 7 centimeters and 36 kilograms to his sumo rivals, but the rising Ukrainian star more than makes up for that disadvantage with elite technique. japantimes.co.jp/sports/2025/1 #sumo #aonishiki #hoshoryu #onosato #ukraine

  2. WOW!

    #HOSHORYU

    Aoniskhiki könnte also morgen gewinnen

  3. At just 25 years old, and already significantly better than every other wrestler in the sport, the only question that remains for Onosato is how many Emperor’s Cups he will win. japantimes.co.jp/sports/2025/0 #sumo #onosato #aonishiki #hoshoryu #autumngrandsumotournament

  4. Onosato and Hoshoryu are off to fast starts at the Autumn Basho, raising fans hopes of seeing a title-deciding yokozuna showdown on Day 15 for the first time in five years. japantimes.co.jp/sports/2025/0 #sumo #onosato #hoshoryu #autumngrandsumotournament

  5. It’s been a rocky start to spring for sumo both in Japan and abroad, with issues over ticketing plaguing an event in London and top wrestlers struggling at the outset of the Osaka tournament. japantimes.co.jp/sports/2025/0 #sumo #springgrandsumotournament #hoshoryu #onosato #aonishiki #abi #kotozakura #oho

  6. Can Hoshoryu make it two in a row, or will Onosato be first to three Emperor’s Cups and earn a shot at making yokozuna? That question will be answered at the Spring Basho, which starts in Osaka on Sunday. japantimes.co.jp/sports/2025/0 #sumo #springgrandsumotournament #hoshoryu #onosato #kotozakura #kotozakura

  7. In #sumo, #Terunofuji won his 9th championship. He'll probably drop out of the next few tournaments and come back to win the Aki Basho.
After seeing the last two days, I doubt #Kirishima will ever make it to yokozuna. He'll be like a #Takakeisho, just healthier. That's not a bad thing. But yokozuna? No.
Congratulations to #Kotonowaka on his promotion to ozeki. He is definitely yokozuna material. I see Koto and #Hoshoryu being the next big yokozuna rivalry, with maybe #Onosato joining them.
