I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you are in the habit of lying to make your cases, you are a bad person, full stop.

And there is a special place in hell for you if you push arguments that you think are good enough to fool the average person even though you are aware of their flaws. I say there is a special place because you run the risk that I will find you and dismantle your arguments for the bullshit they are, and then after you die you go to hell anyway.

We should be clear on something, because someone always tries to quibble about definitions. Lying is found in the intention to deceive, so you can't get around it just by using a clever technique. Leaving out key information ... ? Intent to deceive. Using words that aren't technically wrong but come with incorrect implications ... ? Intent to deceive. Emphasizing irrelevant details to the exclusion of the larger picture ... ? Intent to deceive.

And I don't care whether a given point is a small, irrelevant thing; that doesn't make it okay to lie. What matters is that it matters to you, and you're willing to lie about it. That tells me how you will behave when it comes to more important matters where you have an emotional investment.

We all know the Republicans are shameless liars; they have been for decades now, for sure since the Reagan years. It's in their DNA; they have willingly become the party that clings to every vice and shuns every virtue, and they even embrace traitors. Behold what happens when you have a political party that is dishonest about its intentions for decades: their worst impulses come to dominate, and as a result we're teetering on the edge of fascism.

And I have to say, there's a faction on the Left that is just as dishonest as the Republicans, though they aren't quite as destructive, yet. I am of course talking about the Bernie Bros; at every turn, their go-to move is to undermine "establishment" Democrats, and the only lie they won't tell is one that people call them on. Remember all the people saying that Biden could allow abortions on federal lands, or that he could cancel all student debt "with the stroke of a pen"?

I've seen more than one BernieBro denounce the KHive as the most toxic bunch in politics, and I'll tell you why they hate the KHive: the KHive fact-checks. Nobody's better at fact-checking than the KHive. When Tara Reade was making her sexual assault claims against Biden, one of the people who did the most to dismantle her was Bianca Delarosa, founder of the KHive. Bianca discovered things like how Tara was backdating her accounts of the assault so that it looked like she posted about them years ago, rather than the past few days. (Sorry honey, the Wayback Machine never forgets.) Despite that, the Ryan Grims of the world were still pushing the Tara Reade story long after it'd been debunked, while the Robyn Pennacchias were telling us that to as much as question Tara's shifting accounts was to be as bad as the Republicans.

Bernie Bros hate the truth. It just gets in the way of their lies.

Also, take a look at the Leftie firebrands of the past: the Glenn Greenwalds, the Matt Taibbis, the Joe Rogans. Where are they today? Well one by one, they've turned into Republican assholes. They started out lying about the Democrats, and finally found homes on Team Republican. Isn't it funny how that happens.

The question people should be asking is, how long until the other "progressive" Democrat haters hop from one end of the horseshoe to the other? It seems to be their eventual fate, all of them. Nina Turner is making the move as we speak; we can study her in real time. But the rest will follow, one by one, and people will wonder what changed in them. The only thing that will have changed, ironically, is that they got a smidgen more honest.

But I'm way afield from my original point, which is, lying is always bad, and DS9 is NOT a ripoff of "Babylon 5".

Do you really not care about #LGBTQ, #women, #immigrants, or #inclusivity in hiring?

Or does it just not count when a woman Senator did it?
