  1. I have a cursed object in my office. A cursed #horological object, to be specific.

I have an LED display clock (red, naturally) with a fairly large display, about 55mm high. It was cheap, partially because it has no internal power supply - it runs off USB power.

Oddly, it's one of the most accurate clocks in my house. I have never seen it gain or lose a minute versus my NTP-synced or ELF-synced clocks.

It has enough juice in its reservoir/filter capacitor that it rides out a lot of power outages without losing the time or settings. It's only with extended outages, say 10 minutes or more, that it comes up without the correct time on it. As such, I rarely have cause to dive into its settings.

The last power outage we had that cleared this clock, I left it set to 24-hour time, where I usually switch it to 12-hour. And then I found out it is cursed.

It skips the leading "0" on times where the hour is a single-digit. So it displays, for example, "3:14" rather than "03:14". And the bit that makes my head spin, it displays a single "0" for 12-1am...

"0:23" is seven flavours of wrong.
