Meta seems to have updated the app overview on the Quest. It's now unsorted and illegible. I think they tried to copy Apple, but its so much worse now.
Icons are now in a hexagonal kind of grid, and text has no background anymore. Instead, whatever is behind is rendered slightly darker. But not dark enough, so its really hard to see the white text in front of a white wall. Nice!

Someone at META FINALLY has seen the light in the VR tunnel and it is a dead train.
Meta recently announced starting on June 15, 2026, it will no longer be possible to build, publish or update VR worlds, and Horizon Worlds will not be accessible with VR headsets - the spaces will continue to be be available via the Horizon mobile app only.

In 2018, I first wrote about how dedicated "VR Worlds" would be a #Fail and would be destined to be highly niche products and NOT be the world changing tech as claimed by proponents.

Even if Horizon Worlds will now remain accessible via Quest, the fact that Meta planned to shut it down is proof enough that the metaverse — or at least how it was imagined in VR — turned out to be a black hole where Reality Labs funding went to die.
