With the advent of a new Governor General, it's time to revive one of my longstanding policy proposals: the King should make the GG a dame, and she should offer to make all Companions and Officers of the #OrderOfCanada knights and dames.
It's good to have a system for the government to recognise Canadians who've dedicated themselves to the service of their country and community, but it would be better if the honour were more explicit than a pin and a post-nominal.

Giving a #Gong to #Morrison is the final straw.
If there is to be an Australian Honours system going forward, it should be limited to people who do stuff for which they are *not* paid. That is, honours should not go to anyone who just does the job for which they are paid - politicians, Governors General, CEOs etc.
