Sitting in front of the woven hat is a row of some #handcarved miniature canoe #paddles, carved from red & yellow cedar. Chief Darren Blaney of the #Xwémalhkwu aka #Homalco #FirstNation #carved over 100 of these paddles. They were carved in #honour of the many young Homalco lives lost.

James #Bowman in his essay on #Honour [1] claims two things:

1. The concept of honour is completely gone in the current society
2. Honour never changed from its original sexist machismo-based concept of violent man and chaste and innocent woman.

I believe that both claims are very wrong. Yes, the word is abandoned, but the moral concept is very alive, only in the very changed form.
