Four months ago I posted about this quirky #fountainpen I popped into my shopping cart on impulse one night while grabbing some supplies on Amazon.

Well, after that original post I didn’t use the pen. I put it away in a case and I forgot about it. Recently, I bought a new, large #pencase and moved most of my pens into that case. While I was doing so, I realized I had a bunch of pens that had been sitting around, inked, but unused, including this one.

Last night I pulled out ten pens (five Parker 51 clones, #Lamy Safari, #Hongdian M2 Brass, Hongdian C1, #TWSBI Eco and this Wilknd) to clean out.

Of the pens I pulled out: 2 Parker 51 clones, the Lamy, and the Hongdian M2 Brass had dried out / failed to write. But the Wilknd, the one that was in the case the longest (except for the TWSBI and Lamy) worked immediately. After four months that pen was writing up a storm like I had just filled it and started using it.

Just goes to show: name brand isn’t everything. Even the cheapest, no-name pen can perform as well as, and possibly better than a brand name pen.

My #Hongdian M2 #fountainpen arrived, testing with #wearingeul The Picture of Dorian Gray ink. Which might be too light for the Extra Fine nib, but it’s interesting though.

A mi me regaló mi padre una Hong Dian (el modelo es "The light of hope", he visto online que en algunos lugares se llaman "Black forest" pero la mia lo tiene grabado asique eso jajsja) el año pasado por mi cumpleaños y en casa es lo único con lo que escribo, son bastante baratas (sobre 15€) también y vienen con convertidor, adjunto foto.

So, now that I've finished #inking my hands for tonight with both Hongdian and Diamine #ink, I have a question for the #fountainpenlovers on Mastodon / the Fediverse...

I have a pair of #hongdian M2's, and I noticed the other night that there is an issue with the cartridge converter... Basically, when the piston is extended it hits the top of the feed tube, and pushes the body of the converter up. This causes there to be no vacuum for the first turn of the shaft when you are trying to fill the converter.

Now, I know the "easy" answer is to not lower the piston that far -- but that leaves a significant gap, which will keep a significant amount of space in the converter (I'd guess around 0.1ml).

Has anyone found a fix for this? Or has anyone found a better fitting converter for the M2?
