Everyone talks about HOMM3 but personally, I feel HOMM5 is incredibly underappreciated!

The gameplay is smooth and well-paced. The story is campy early 2000s high fantasy at its best, and the visuals are timeless: colorful and evoking thoughts of tabletop miniatures.

One of my favourite scenario maps: seven lakes. Randomly chosen the characters and faction. This time wizard. Wouldn’t have minded barbarian and orcs to walk in difficult terrains more easily with pathfinding skills. But once you collect 40x gems and lots of gold a Titan is yours!

Finished the campaign's Act 1 (which is what's available in the Early Access) yesterday. The difficulty drops considerably after the 3rd mission and the game becomes less challenging once you figure out the basic game loop. Very addictive gameplay too, looking forward for more.

Je voudrais vraiment aimer ce #HoMM #OldenEra mais le chara design des unités me rebute quand même pas mal.

The new Heroes game (Olden Era) needs some polish, but you can already see that they did an amazing job on gameplay QoL stuff, like buttons to “split in half” and “split evenly into all slots”.
I also do like the smallish but very crowded maps, you don’t need to ride days between mines and other locations.
And they’re releasing patches all of the time too

«Герои меча и магии» (Heroes of Might & Magic или просто HoMM) это серия игр, на которой я вырос, и в которую до сих пор периодически с удовольствием играю. Конечно же, больше всего наиграны третьи Герои, а также пятые. И вот только что в раннем доступе вышла новая часть — HoMM: Olden Era от студии Unfrozen, с чем я всех нас и поздравляю. Секрет живучести и культовости Героев в гениальной геймплейной основе , в которую входит разнообразный микс: разведка территории, собирательство ресурсов, развитие замка, набор армии, поиск артефактов, прокачка героя и пошаговые сражения. Тем не менее, как бы тепло я ни относится к HoMM, мне кажется, что какие-то фирменные особенности этой серии игр давно нуждаются в переосмыслении и обновлении. Во многих аспектах игры хочется добавить больше свободы, разнообразия и фана . А какие-то отдельные утомительные игровые элементы хочется упростить или даже совсем исключить . И сегодня я хотел бы поделиться своими субъективными мыслями на этот счёт и сразу же проанализировать, насколько моё мнение совпадает с видением разработчиков новой части — Olden Era. Она уже долгое время была доступна в виде демо-версии , поэтому у всех желающих было время её попробовать и понять, какой будет игра. Также приглашаю вас поделиться своими мнением в комментариях и вместе конструктивно подискутировать.

Taking a break from MS-DOS, I've been working on a game for the #PsionSeries3 pocket computer, of which I own too many. Dragonfell is a #HOMM inspired game where two sides raise armies of creatures and send them against one another across a decaying land, trying to seize the other's citadel. That game goes into beta test today, hopefully for a release by Christmas. There may be an #msdos version in future, as it's different enough from HOMM to be worth porting.

I got into closed playtests of a #MighandMagic game and rumour has it it's not #OldenEra... but it seems based solely on the game having open beta. Dune: Awakening had closed test after open, so it's not uncommon. It'd also make dense release schedule. Thoughts?

Was re-watching some interviews I filmed with the cast of #MightAndMagic #HeroesVII #HOMM during the game's recording sessions and recognized #DeniseGough (Dedra Meero in #Andor). I had completely forgotten about that 😅
Looking back, we had a pretty stellar cast on that project.
