"US cyber defense agency warns hackers are increasingly targeting water systems

• More than 30 Minnesota community water systems were targeted on July 26 and 27

• CISA urges operators to remove internet-exposed control technology as soon as possible

• Hackers changed passwords in some cases, causing boil water notices and manual operations

The U.S. government’s civilian cyber defense agency on Thursday warned of a significant increase in hackers targeting technology used to maintain and ‌control water and wastewater systems, and said operators of such systems should remove them from the internet as soon as possible.

The warning comes two days after Minnesota’s state IT agency said more than 30 community water systems in the state were targeted in a 'coordinated cyberattack' on July 26 and 27. The FBI said in a statement, opens new tab late on Thursday that water and wastewater utility companies ​in at least seven states have reported incidents to the bureau, and that some of that activity 'degraded water operations.'

U.S. officials and investigators reviewing the ​matter say it is likely Iranian-linked hackers are behind the Minnesota attacks, the New York Times reported on Thursday. Representatives for the ⁠Iranian government did not immediately respond to a request for comment."

When their symbols are seen irl it can be quite distressing.

Its made worse by the fact that powerful players not only permit it but encourage it. A while back their was a media report of a nazi group and it was seemingly denegrating the Nazism while displaying photographs designed to appeal to young men.

The most powerful use nazi groups to act as a blunt instrument against local #grassroots movements.

A well-organised #militia… now that's *rich*, and something of an #oxymoron, because if they were well-regulated they would not need violence.

It's reported that by protecting 4Chan they, helped to produce the #ChristchurchMassacre but that was just a side-effect of their control over the internet.

They are pushing a narrative of 'the internet' breaking. That's what we see.

Prior to #mineEleven there was a similar #zeitgeist surrounding #twinTowers collapse. So-called #popularCulture, were repeating tropes of a collapse, to prime the audience for t #MiddleEast Project.

Having said that, they seem to trade in equally bad #proxyWars. China have surplus men from #oneChildPolicy, and west seem willing to off #Trump/#Brexit-type voters, and #SouthAmerica has stuff.

Re #homeToRoost, we were talking to a young adult recently about #Israel genocide and #landGrab from #Palestinians. They said, beating chest, "I don't watch the news, I do my own thing," Something to that effect.

All we said was, these things come full circle.
