I would like you to support the Termination Resolution that Senator Chris Van Hollen and Congressman Jamie Raskin introduced Tuesday. Van Hollen and Raskin’s Termination Resolution is a provision within the Home Rule Act that allows Congress to move quickly to overturn the policing overreaction in Washington DC being pursued by this Republican Administration. I ask that you support this resolution as quickly as possible.

A quick review of national crime statistics shows a dozen cities across this nation with higher crime rates than Washington DC. Were this Republican Administration serious about reducing crime in cities, they would fully fund the dozens of successful programs already proven to counter violent crime.

Please work to put an end to this political stunt and pass legislation to hire police, create diversion programs, and restore balance to the policing of the nearly 700,000+ residents of Washington DC who lack full representation in Congress (unlike the 500,000+ residents of Wyoming - no offense intended to Wyoming).
