  1. I've tried baking my own bread after a while, and I love the results.

    I've used this recipe: chainbaker.com/a-very-simple-e

And I've also found, that the key is methodology and the process of making it, rather than just the ingredients. I used to underestimate the process part with the breadmaking in past and it shows.

  3. We were able to collect a decent amount of pears for winter (considering we only have 3 trees, and they were supposed to be collected a few weeks ago), as well as more than decent amount of pears suitable for our birds.

  5. #Naan dough rising, to be cooked tomorrow. Used up the last of my homemade Greek yogurt. These naan are destined for pizza bases when the wife's family visits this weekend. We'll see if any of my in-laws are brave enough to try my #kombucha.

  6. As I said last night, homemade beef jerky and crusty Italian bread were on the menu to be made today.

Unfortunately, the best laid plans of mice and men always run awry.

I had a migraine for the majority of today, and the meat that I pulled out for the jerky was pretty thick, and was thawing slowly. Therefore, the most I could do jerky-wise was getting the meat cut and into the marinade.

Then, it was onto the crusty bread. Simple to make, and absolutely delicious. I happened to overwork the dough a little bit, so the loaf came out more dense than I would've preferred-- which you can see in the last photo-- but it is still tasty.

Trust me-- I'm eating it typing this post.

  7. Homemaker ProTip

If you need to thaw something quickly, put it on a cooling rack, even a simple short one for cookies

I wish I learned that much earlier. It's remarkably fast

As one example, this piece on explorers of the rich spoiled submarine type and explorers of the fleeing disaster seeking a new home type. homeculture.substack.com/p/the #MegConley #refugees #exploring #explorers #Titanic #HomeCulture #writing #women #work #money #homemaking #Mormons

  11. Doing some little household projects today. I bought some nice baskets to hide some necessary-but-not-pretty bits in the living room, framed and hung a pastel picture my 9yo did, reframed some pictures I had over the fireplace (pictures of Houston in the 1920s - two of the original frames fell off the wall and broke a few days ago), and now I'm making placemats out of some pretty fabric my grandmother bought in Mexico. I always enjoy making my home a little nicer.

  13. Plant of the day!
"String of Pearls" is one of my favorites plants but I've never owned one before. Hard to believe how much this beauty has grown from the few cuttings I was kindly gifted a few months ago. 😍 It needs a name! Got any suggestions?
