"The economy is top of mind for #voters this year, and experts say that #ClimateChange has the potential for "significant economic harm."

Climate change is making home ownership more expensive [by rsising] #HomeInsurance premiums

In the most pessimistic of scenarios, experts estimate that Latin America will have 17 million climate migrants by 2050, as climate impacts will force #migrations across other continents."

  8. #Insurance #ShopAround #InsurancePolicies #HomeInsurance

We just found out that our insurance carrier, AAA, will not renew our bundled home/car insurance because we heat with a wood pellet furnace.

Because the fuel has to be put in by a human, not delivered constantly but a fuel or gas line, they are dropping us.

Um, what do they do for people who heat exclusively with wood?

Separately, this will add nearly 1200 bucks to our car insurance bill.

    Robbery.

    WTF?

  9. What's also #QuiteProblematic is that #Rustington also happens to sit in an #Area that is #Historically #ProneToFlooding; because it also doesn't have very much by way of viable #SeaDefences...

    So, #Inevitably, #ShaunGunner's #Future will involve:

#Living in a #Shithole; #Surrounded by #Sewage, which he can neither #Sell, nor get #HomeInsurance for because of the #EscalatingFloodRisk

    His #LocalHealthAndSocialCareServices will also #Collapse...

  12. "For the billionaires and mere multimillionaires who have flocked to places like South #Florida, a five- and six-figure [#HomeInsurance] policy, while costly, won’t break the bank.

The result: an acceleration of #ClimateGentrification. Increasingly, only the affluent will be able to afford to insure themselves against the #ExtremeWeather, #floods and #wildfires on our warming planet. People of more modest means will simply be priced out, industry experts say."

  13. "American International Group Inc., which has already pulled back from new #California business, is now set to curb #HomeInsurance sales for affluent customers in 200 ZIP codes across the US, including New York, Delaware, Florida, Colorado, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.

The #AIG move stands out, both because of the broadness of its reach — touching states that are not normally considered in the high-risk pool — and what that breadth says about the years to come. "
