Please let the record show that the Johnsons have six tomato plants transplanted and ready to party for 2026. A far cry from the 50 plants we had in 2021, but after zero garden in 2025 it’s good to be back at it.

I normally wouldn't still be saving tomato seeds this late in the season. Always save the early ones, to make sure I have a good harvest even in a cool year!
But this year — thanks to that unseasonable early-May heatwave — I have two volunteer plants that weren't started indoors that are doing amazing. Those big beefy tomatoes in front? From a plant that sprouted on its own, in my Edmonton garden, from last year's fallen fruit.
So yeah, I'm saving seeds.
