So excited for these stickers to come in! I have some competitions coming up in the next few months and it will be great to have something to give out as a means to "bribe" votes
Huge thanks again to @andycarolan for the amazing art. It was so easy to work with him and the stuff he came up with was beyond what I was imagining! You should reach out to him for your next creative project.

"Yes", I tell myself ordering another widget I've bought for a series of hobbies I won't have time to properly explore until the year 2035. "This is absolutely the right time to purchase this item".

I’ve been using Mastodon for awhile, but never gave a proper #introduction. So here we go.
I’m a father of two boys. A former IT geek who ended up working in breweries, then becoming an actual brewer at a small pub. It eventually closed, and I transitioned to full time #stayathomedad . I play #hockey, I dabble with #Writing, I love #SciFi and #Fantasy, I #homebrewbeer, I’m a #youthhockey dad, and I’m trying to get back in to #ttrpg. I currently have 3 #Cats. That’s a snapshot of my life.

1st time Kveik...
So here's the plan:
4kg pilsner malt, mash for ~60 minutes, then 30 minute boil with 20g Warrior hops, and throw in however much Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops I have at the end.Cool to 40C, transfer to plastic conical, and pitch Kveik and try to hold above 30C.
Skim some yeast off and dry it in oven tomorrow.
Easy.
I've been reading Kveik will brew at lower temperature, so let's see, in the end it'll be beer.
Let me just finish my cappuccino first

Currently down to 2 kegs.
This is the stout... It's nice, high carbonation giving a thick head.CO2 is nearly empty, still enough for a few more pours before I have to get a refill.

Been working on the VW camping bus... now time to cool down with some home brewed porter.

So in last year's hop harvest, I found that one of the bines had grown into my shed.
The hop cones appeared normally shaped, but they were white, and had a nice aroma (peachy).I'm assuming the lack of sun, made them lose the chlorophyll.
There wasn't enough to make a brew, but I'm thinking "what if I pick a whole bine and cover them in a cloth towards end of the cycle".
chlorophyll free/reduced hops?

Starting a red beer brew... Not decided if it's going to be hoppy or not... #IPA or #RedAle or #RedIPA

Tried again the unsuccessful ale... Awesomely clear, but no, the weird minty taste is still there.
Added Fleur de bière again.
I'm going to have to find a source for this stuff in Germany 😬 -
My "Big Orange" #IPA has spent 5 days dry hopping in the kegerator.
The Bavaria Mandarin hops really do give a pure orange taste when dry hopping. First time I've dry hopped them in the keg and it has definitely been effective.
The problem now is should I rack 9.45L into a smaller keg so I don't drink it all before the party in a few weeks or do I just drink it 😂

Quick and dirty porter is about to boil...
-
So the previous beer turned out not so good... It's got a weird minty taste, I think it might be a sun struck issue as I used a glass fermentor for the first time in ages.
Anyway, a shot of Fleur de Bierre makes it somewhat palatable 😂
I might see if I can drink half of it then mix in lemonade to have it as a Radler/Shandy for the BBQ season -
Got some stickers printed of a logo I made up for my home brewery... Clearly not a professional artist here 😂

Decided late to start a brew today, to give a buddy some for his birthday (which I forgot).
"Big Orange 🍊" something like an IPA... a made up recipe with some old left over malts and the goal to use up 90g of my homegrown Mandarin Bavaria hops at flame out.

Kegged the latest batch yesterday, a pure boring helles with limited hoppiness for my German relatives to drink at our Summerfest.
Added gelatin this afternoon and gave it a co2 burst and shake, so I could enjoy a sample.
Taste wise for me it is very fine!
Bit of a fresh taste, very plain and bland, but very sessionable.
Will be good after a few weeks in the keg to clear up. -
So the honey bee yeast raw ale is on tap... It's got a bit of a weird taste.
With some Fleur de Biere it's going down very well tho.

New IPA keg went into the #keezer yesterday.
Fermented with a few days worth of yeast dregs collected from a lot of blonde beers drank on my trip to my best buddy in Brittany.
Pressure fermented in the keg and pressure tonight is still around 10psi in the keezer at 5°C... Perfect!
Very fine bubbles in the glass, but I always think that with spunded beers.
Needs more time to clear.
First time using Ariana hops, and I think I like them!

Brewing a porter... was going to be lite 1.5%, but I decided to pump it up a bit. goal is still "lower" alcohol ~3.6%

@gustav I'm very critical of my own beer, but it never gets in the way of me enjoying it!

Planning a low ABV chocolate malt porter.
Worried about the IBU's might be too much with the low malt quantity.
The bitterness ratio seems a bit high... any thoughts out there?

Prepping sparging water as the mashing is soon over. No hotter than 78C, the hottest and final mash phase. #brewing #homebrewbeer #diy

Oooooooo.... Weberfest bier, latest batch.
Märzen/IPA made with a lot of Bavaria Mandarin hops that I grow organically in the garden.
Total orange flavour bomb 🍊
Clarity could be better, but it's the first proper glass from a new keg, and for Weberfest we drink it cloudy.

Time for a brew. Sussex Best Bitter. Of course I can't start until the equipment has been inspected by brewery manager Stinky (left) and assistant manager TK. #HomeBrewing #HomebrewBeer
