  1. FINALLY got my backup to SMB in #Homeassisstant working again 🎉
I switched my Raspberry Pi that was the intended backup target from Raspbian to Fedora, which apparently comes with selinux..... Took me just 4 months (on-off) of head scratching lol

  3. Drogie #Fedi.

  7. No, pierwszy element setup NAS+Home Assistant jest.

  11. Doing nerd things for nerd reasons.

Also I forgot that there's no "split" filter because you can just call ".split()" on a string object. Derp. X3

Word wrapped to 200 chars before being split to lines for individual messages.

  14. So I stuck three #ds18b20 temperature sensors in our boiler. An #esp8266 and #esphome made them usable in #HomeAssisstant. What I couldn't have guessed is how much heat is transferred via the wire. When just stuck in a drilled hole through the insulation the temperature was 50⁰C. I then dug out the insulation and taped the sensor and some wire directly on the steel and foamed the cavity shut, the actual temperature is 73⁰C!

  19. F*ck. #HomeAssisstant Supervised is deprecated. I have to yet again do a migration. Two, actually. And no clue how to get #IPv6, VLANs and other stuff to work in the neutered versions supported. I loved having my own operating system and being able to log on directly and fix things not available in some shitty UI.

  21. Final thoughts.

If you have the Aqara hub then use that or at least use it to switch the firmware if you really want to use zigbee direct.

If you don’t have an Aqara hub I’m not sure what you are to do. If you add it to #HomeAssisstant using Thread you dont have any configuration options. And I don’t know how you are suppose to switch it to zigbee.

These are my initial thoughts with minimal testing. I’m sure I will find more.

(I hope I did this thread thing right.)

  23. My final test was adding the #Aqara FP300 to #HomeAssisstant as a zigbee device using zigbee2mqtt.

Wasn’t that easy and wasn’t too hard.

Because they come with the Thread firmware by default I had to add it to my Aqara hub. Then when it prompted me for Thread or Zigbee I had to select Zigbee and let it switch the firmware. I then cancelled the install and went back to Zigbee2MQTT and was able to add it.

Once added it had a LOT of options to configure. I still have to go through them.

  25. My next test was to add this directly to #HomeAssisstant using Matter over Thread.

This wasn’t smooth. Took a few tries. Not sure what was happening but eventually got added.

However in HA there are no options to configure. So I don’t recommend doing it this way.

  27. My first test was adding the FP300 to my Aqara M3 hub.

As expected this went smooth. Their device. Their hub.

During the setup it prompts you to use Thread or Zigbee. I selected Zigbee and it had to download and install a new firmware. So I guess they come setup for thread by default.

Once set up you can configure everything you need via the app and then I expose it to #HomeAssisstant via Matter. All configuration is still done in the app.
