Progress! Bay one, of three, is filled. Not sure I love the order, but I can move bits of the ‘effects bay’ around down the road.

I just dodged a couple of bullets in the form of an impulse buy. It was between a Tascam DP006 (which would have been practical but dinky and annoying (menu divey), or a Zoom PS04, which would've been cool and funky and had tons of effects of varying usefulness, but uses SmartMedia (worth at *least* its weight in gold (and several times its storage density)) and only included a 32mb card... but I puttered long enough for a third option to come through, which is far more my speed...
A Fostex MR-8. More channels, more physical controls... and I mean, it looks cool as shit, so there's that lol. Oh also it uses Compact Flash, which is infinitely more palatable than SmartMedia.

Remix - Stan Stewart decided to try remixing. Here's what that experience taught him. (This is not a how-to post.) -
Tomorrow I hope to do some vocals on the tracks we recorded a few weeks ago with @[email protected] at our rehearsal space. Recordings came out pretty OK.
The idea is to use these tracks as a pre-production to improve the songs we'd like to record, tighten them up, maybe add or remove parts. And to give any studio we might book an idea of how we sound like. It's also good material to improve my mixing skills on.
