Holochain has repeatedly championed White Nationalist hate actors and marketed itself to the far-right through its founding members and ecosystem growth manager.
IMO (as someone who collaborated with them for a long time and knows the architecture deeply) the DHT scenario and Holochain's forkable network architecture makes this a much more dangerous combination. No trust or consent is needed to replicate peer data to new group members, and data and code can be forked off to new groups any time. At least in Keet replication is up to the individual and not the volk.

There is not much help to be had anymore, really- this is a reflective piece on traumatic experiences / revelations from years ago. Nobody in the movement wants to acknowledge its faults or the damage done- I've given up on that. But I do have a lot of research on accelerationist philosophies and #Holochain's origins as a far-right psyop designed to recruit progressive talent for the creation of 'uncancelable' hate networks... so, um, if you feel inclined to specify a more specific interest I might be able to find some interesting links.

@jwcph @pluralistic @courtcan "yes, and" on the title of the linked article... you should also know that one of #Holochain's founders authored a "satirical" paper on crypto-economically incentivised #GangStalking (HATEcoin), then built tech fit for the purpose (AutonomousOrganization) and marketed it to far-right communities.
It may be largely a paranoid delusion, but there are people out there trying to make it real. -

@internetarchive were also directly notified of extensive marketing of #Holochain's tech to far-right audiences through these efforts, and of far-right recruitment being undertaken within HOLO-adjacent communities. They have been aware of progressive efforts and learnings being extracted from and disseminated throughout libertarian & fascist communities via these relationships.

Their ethics team's response was to hear me out, then do nothing but watch while #Scuttlebutt community members monitored the situation.

@kissane if you know @ntnsndr then you are probably also somewhat aware of the fascist infiltration & recruitment in the #DWeb movement. I think you'll find the #Holochain community provides ample ground for exploration in what this "differently bad" looks like.
Spoiler alert: it looks like #dlt where the financial and technical pipelines lead straight to hate funding & propaganda groups.

A thread happens when people post a text, then reply to their own post with the next text. A bunch of times. Forming a chain of words; like a cross between a micro-WordPress and a blockchain. A WordChain.
But unlike a blockchain, it's not linear. Any post in an existing WordChain can be replied to by anyone, including its creator, not just the last one. So it's more like a HoloChain.

I continue to bump in to queer people within their organization who are troubled by the lack of action & awareness, and on the verge of burnout.
I hear from collaborators who have encountered the #Holochain-curious that rumours are saying
> something like "Oh well I did hear of this person Moritz that was bad or something"
which says to me that #HOLO are continuing their pattern of scapegoating the worst parts of their dysfunction. -
Claims and credentials are a big part of digital identity. I had the pleasure of speaking with Kim Hamilton Duffy, Executive Director of the Decentralized Identity Foundation, about the power of verifiable credential specifications. Many different implementations of this one standard can help to address various forms of fraud that currently are costly and difficult to investigate.
