Wegen der Mehrdeutigkeiten ist es schwierig, einschlägige Quellen zu identifizieren, die z.B. von einer "Schießtafel" sprechen: Ist hier eine Peilke oder eine Schießscheibe gemeint?

Sind die Gleichsetzungen Pilkentafel = Trocktafel korrekt oder irreführend? Wurde das Spiel, um das es mir geht, jemals von den Spieler*innen als "Trockspiel/-tafel bezeichnet?

The lecture series on the Ludic Languages of Asia continues today, 21st March, 10:00-11:00 CET. Fatih Parlak from Cappadocia University, Turkey, will talk about the little explored manuscripts of the Şatranç-nâme-i Kebîr, or Great Book of Chess, composed by Firdevsî-i Rûmî in 1503 CE for the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II (r. 1481-1512).

Anzeige für Empires of Magira in Follow 56/57 (Februar 1978). Basierend auf Empire of the Petal Throne (teils übersetzt, teils gehackt, wenn ich die Beschreibungen richtig deute) ist Empires of Magira das erste deutsche Rollenspiel. In der Folgezeit wurde daran weitergebastelt - auch der Titel änderte sich zu 'Abenteuer in Magira'.

@ninawillburger I'm not too familiar with Greek and Roman games - was a pair of dice common for (particular) dice games, e.g. XII scripta?
For comparison, in late medieval German sources, gamblers are often depicted with three dice, so it's interesting to see this artefact.
