  1. Mixing Stardew Valley with sewing interludes I've finished 1 pocket in my new walking skirt and started other.
Sewing up sideseams is fast. It's always the details that take the time.
I still feel like I don't get the victorian pockets right. The rectangular ones with split-off corner. I wish I could see couple extant ones, because when I try to do it this way youtube.com/watch?v=KFM9EOLGW50, it lays weird, hard to iron seems. I feel I'm missing something. #Sewing #HistoricalCostuming #HistoryBounding

  6. As it is an end-of-19th century walking skirt and two very soft fabrics, the proper things would be to add stiffening layer to the bottom part. But I don't have anything useful, and I'm not sure what kind of material should I get to keep things both natural and gently washable on occasion. I wonder, will wearing a petticoat or two counter the flimsiness or am I making a big mistake...

  10. Yesterday I managed to interline and thread-mark the rest of my big skirt pieces. Tried a new method (for me) – laying the cut piece of fashion fabric very smoothly on the uncut lining, basting on the seamlines together and then cutting out the lining piece. The contemporary method would be to heat-fuse two layers together, but I'm curious what can I achieve with older methods.
Whenever I'l have time next it'll be pockets, waistband and putting together. #HistoryBounding #LaumaŠuj #Sewing

  14. As the most sane person, I've spent months complaining that I don't have enough linen shifts... and then I spent yesterday 6 hours on the floor cutting out and threadmarking wool walking skirt. And now my whole body is sore muscles. #sewing #HistoryBounding #LaumaŠuj

  18. Dear history bounders, please advice on where to get a lasting pair of black calf high leather boots with sheepwool or similar natural warming material inside?
It will have to last snow, ice and salt, so I guess, leather soles won't be appropriate. Wide calfs. EU or EEZ.

  23. This year I finally made the leap and brought couple household items more than 50 years old. It went better than expected. My hobbitish teakwood lamp for the living room is an absolute thing of beauty. And at last it gives me the warm, cosy and gosh-this-is-so-nice vibes I want to have in my home. #HistoryBounding
