  2. Dear history bounders, please advice on where to get a lasting pair of black calf high leather boots with sheepwool or similar natural warming material inside?
It will have to last snow, ice and salt, so I guess, leather soles won't be appropriate. Wide calfs. EU or EEZ.

  3. Decided to forgo the handstitching flat felled seams for my late 19th / early 20th century drawers and instead topstitch by machine. I wouldn't know, but I sincerely suspect that the historical ladies might have done the same occasionally, when in hurry. Also, it is not like anybody will notice that, if someone would have their head between my legs to criticize my seam choices... they really need to rethink their life choices. #HistoryBounding #HistoricalSewing #sewing

  4. Nice quiet afternoon sewing a night coif.
The pattern is coif 1a from the Marquis of Winchester's Regiment living history guide to coifs and hair, but the fabric is far from historical, being the button-side front of a red checked flannel shirt. (The buttonhole-side front has been a night-coif for over a year now.)

  5. Last summer I started to wear victorian-style corset made of cotton coutil combined with linen undershirts half of the time. Now I've gotten so used to it that I really, really can't wrap my head around the fact that people somehow decided that completely synthetic bras will be the contemporary warderobe staple. They are so sweaty compared to my linens. #HistoryBounding #linen #corsetry #PlasticIsEverywhere

  6. American Duchess has been praised all over the internet on the shoe quality, but so far my experience with #jobear is better. For me personaly Jobear's last feels better, but also after just one short summer both heel inserts of my AD french heels has cracked.

Did my shoes tried fat-shaming me?!

  9. Some of you may remember that last year I have been #handsewing a shirt in red wool, but by the time I've mostly¹ finished it it was already too warm to be able to wear it significantly.

At least, the Sensible Season seems to have started, and I can wear it!

There will be a blog post. At some unknown time in the future.

¹ it does need a few detachable collar and cuffs variants, to style it a bit differently, but those don't prevent me from wearing the shirt as is.

  10. It’s #FitCheckFriday and as such, I’d be remiss if I didn’t share my beloved Battle Jacket! It’s an 18th century wrapping gown that I hand-sewed using 18th century techniques (so many hours of backstitching oh my goodness) and while the fabric in this case is *slightly* more modern, I feel like it tracks well enough, and makes me feel comfy and confident.

  15. Maybe my brain makes weird connections but I keep looking for things on the internet that apparently no one else has ever asked for. Are you telling me that since the Kibbe body types were invented in the 80s, nobody else has EVER wondered how the Flamboyant Natural body type could best incorporate historical clothing into their personal style????? #kibbe #historybounding #originalthinking

  16. #introduction I'm Beth Winegarner, a #journalist, #author, #essayist, and occasional #popculture #writer in San Francisco. I'm very active on #instagram (same username) and I'm currently writing a book on the history of #SanFrancisco #cemeteries (and how many dead were left behind & forgotten). I'm also a #sewing fiend and #historybounding person with a YouTube channel (CozyCore). I'm very into medicinal plants and #herbs and #gardening, too!
