Just to be clear

a hiking outfit is first and foremost a *practical* garment, as evident from the fact that the skirt is not supported over a bustle but just a bit of padding

so if I'm making a matching hat it's perfectly reasonable to add earflaps to it, even if it's something that is vaguely shaped like a top hat, right?

Decided to forgo the handstitching flat felled seams for my late 19th / early 20th century drawers and instead topstitch by machine. I wouldn't know, but I sincerely suspect that the historical ladies might have done the same occasionally, when in hurry. Got on a whim 2,5 metres of some kind of mistery wool fabric on sale. Last piece, incredibly soft and pleasant to touch. Medium weight I think. Gray with thin, almost invisible pinstripe. 1,54 wide.
I could make an interlined Victorian walking skirt... I wonder what other options I have?

Ordered today 10 metres of milk white linen at the cost of one readymade chemise. Let's see, if I'll have enough energy to turn them in the late 19th century underwear I so desperately want. Feel free to suggest me simple patterns of period chemises, drawers and combinations if you fancy so.
