Went on a bit of a shopping spree due to misunderstanding about when the new EU taxes kick in and feeling generally sad and heartbroken. Got my first Janet Arnold's book. Wow, so cool. I lack the knowledge to utilize it fully, but it is incredibly addictive to try to figure out some details. #HistoricalSewing #PatternsOfFashion

Just to be clear
a hiking outfit is first and foremost a *practical* garment, as evident from the fact that the skirt is not supported over a bustle but just a bit of padding
so if I'm making a matching hat it's perfectly reasonable to add earflaps to it, even if it's something that is vaguely shaped like a top hat, right?

Decided to forgo the handstitching flat felled seams for my late 19th / early 20th century drawers and instead topstitch by machine. I wouldn't know, but I sincerely suspect that the historical ladies might have done the same occasionally, when in hurry. Also, it is not like anybody will notice that, if someone would have their head between my legs to criticize my seam choices... they really need to rethink their life choices. #HistoryBounding #HistoricalSewing #sewing
