  1. "A Snow Slide in the City" brings to life the chaos of winter in 1860 with brilliant detail. The urgency in the crowd's reactions reveals the unpredictability of city life. How does this scene resonate with today's urban experiences?

  2. Handsewing historically accurately but mainly in the sense that both the sewists of yore and I do it this way bc neither of us have access to a functioning machine whereas historical costuming purists absolutely could use a machine but dont for the aesthetic

Come at me purists, the sewists of yesteryear absolutely would have used a machine if theyd had it and you know it

  4. A weathered, rectangular stone relief that depicts a scene with angles, surrounding the body of the dead Christ. The style is somewhat classical, but the stone is heavily worn, obscuring details. The work could be around 450 years old and are on a small chapel.

  9. #Nuremberg's #SchembartCarnival, ("bearded-mask" carnival). Beginning in 1449, it was popular but ended in 1539 due to the complaints of an influential preacher named #Osiander who objected to his effigy playing backgammon surrounded by fools and devils.

Nobody knows why #Artichokes were popular. Are also suspect that #Osiander was hiding something. ;)

  10. So one of the things that helped me stay sane (and enjoy!) the birdsite was that there were several #Art bots I followed. #Masterpieces and #ModernArts. #Paintings, #StreetArt, #HistoricalArt, #Sculptures, #Architecture, #ArtMovements etc etc etc

The ones I follow on birdsite aren't obviously on mastodon yet. Could anyone recommend an instance to browse, perhaps? Or recommend bots/users?
