Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park's "Genbaku-no-ko-no-zō" (原爆の子の像 "Children's Peace Monument") was erected on Children's Day 1958 to comfort the soul of Sadako Sasaki (佐々木禎子 1943-55) and the children who died of atomic bomb related diseases.
