I heard a Hiromi track for the first time by chance in 9th grade, and it enraptured me in a way nothing else ever can. The vividness, the emotion, the intensity, the dense flurries of notes...it was everything I'd always wanted to hear in music. I've been a fan ever since.
Here's her latest track, teasing a new album coming next month: https://youtu.be/BgHwvlLsQZ8

…I’ll put this out there not knowing there is anyone sitting in the relevant interval that can process it but the contrast between ##SimonPhilips and #SteveSmith live with #HiromiUehara is not unlike the contrast between #MikePortnoy and #MikeMangini with #DreamTheater live. Subtle…but also significant…and absolutely inspiring both nine ways to Sunday. Don’t even go there wrt superiorities. Each to his own everlasting gifts

Sunday #DailyTracks #HiromiUehara Edition : Most of us exhibit some asymmetry wrt ascending vs descending lines. Classical training has the advantage here. This isn’t her most thoroughly insane example but itza good place to start and also a good proof for technical proficiency becoming something more transcendent. And of course #SimonPhilips and #AnthonyJackson. Note that pick chewing live ala Anthony is not a risk free endeavor…
