*Should not be shared so publically. #HIPPA. Sharing patient sensitive info on the loud walkie talkies so others can hear even from other rooms is just #BadMedicine.

Basically the move backwards: It used to be that disabled unemployed adults were the only ones subjected to a complete lack of privacy & digital rights, due to structural problems with laws (mostly the #ADA) & general infantilizing of said group of people, but now it's everyone.
Now more specifically a lacking of understanding and to some extent outright lying on law sets and enforcement mechanisms of #HIPPA, which doesn't really protect or enhance medical records privacy, rather the opposite in practice & the Americans with Disabilities Act #ADA which basically runs on a combination of voluntary advanced given adaptive options, and generally publicly given disclosures of medical information with requests for accommodations before formal lawsuits, (which are pretty close to completely impossible in the online sphere).

Today is all about console work for my new #Hippa compliant #Aiagebmnt #proton #Google #microsoft #telegrahm #signal and #discord integration are finished ✅

Got a solicitation for a medical research study via mychart. Not thrilled they are profiling my data at all. Then find out it is unpaid, and involves my genetic information. This seems entirely unethical and even possibly illegal. So #hippa shields mass covid deaths from being seen, but not this?

If you're in legal I'm sure you're interested in compliance. It is exciting after all, lol. Anyway... here are some you need to consider when it comes to compliance and your tech.

CW: Medical clerical & tech mess
Apparently I'm supposed to "just trust " an online patient portal, which my Dr's office keeps lying to me about, in whom their affiliated with and in the messages they've sent to me on it, before they got it to work on a browser I almost never use....where at least 75% of the data that should be there isn't and about 15-20% is wrong. I should do so because the clerks there think #HIPPA demand this & is more important than the #ADA and I don't have a phone number to give them.
It is at least browser based but there's no way it's complaint with any web #accessibility standards, aside from thankfully not using captchas.
I've had at least 2 lie sets given on who controls/runs their website/portal .....it could be that neither was intentional but that doesn't really improve things to me at all.
My offer remains that they can email me whenever they want & send the rest via regular mail. At best this browser based portal is being done as it's cheaper than encrypted emails but I don't see why messages like "we need to reschedule your next appointment ", "please come tomorrow to speak with the nurse" or even "we left a message for you at your chosen hospital, over results of your labs" need encryption anyways.
I'm not going to ask them anything specific via an online or email system either, nevermind do a "telemedicine" visit via that nor an actual phone either, so if that's their real rationale, I'd rather leave it before it expands into said realm.
This is why I think within the next week, again I'll in writing ask they remove me from said portal permanently.
*If their facility was open 24/7 then I would still revile this baseline of a demand that they have a path for quick communication, that to them is secure, with me but they're not open over 3 days a week & 7 hours a day, often closing suddenly over staffing problems. Labs drawn there also take at least 3 days, often 7-10 to get back to them, which also dilutes their claim for a "need" on this.
As it is, this place is so darn close to my home, that if I'm in good enough shape to open their email, then I am likewise in good enough shape to drive to their office & most of the time, walk to it as well, which is why the notion of their "need" to tell me urgently that they're closed, is pure nonsense.....they share a parking lot with the main town grocery store, so I can always go there if that happens & I still want some use of the super short trip....

For years, I have filed a HIPPA complaint with the privacy office of every website I go to that has a Google Analytics tag that serves my protected health information, like my doctor, MyChart, labs, pharmacies, home health, case management etc. I get brushed off. It just makes me uncomfortable.
🔗 'Read the Manual': Misconfigured Google Analytics Led to a Data Breach Affecting 4.7M
Personal health information on 4.7 million Blue Shield California subscribers was unintentionally shared between Google #Analytics and Google #Ads between April 2021 and January 2025 due to a misconfiguration error.

🔗 BCBS NOTICE OF DATA BREACH: https://news.blueshieldca.com/notice-of-data-breach
"On February 11, 2025, Blue Shield discovered that, between April 2021 and January 2024, Google Analytics was configured in a way that allowed certain member data to be shared with Google’s advertising product, Google Ads, that likely included protected health information. Google may have used this data to conduct focused ad campaigns back to those individual members. We want to reassure our members that no bad actor was involved, and, to our knowledge, Google has not used the information for any purpose other than these ads or shared the protected information with anyone."

- Americans’ #prescription information, including the type of medication and how they are prescribed
- Data collected during medical studies in a multitude of areas and from public and private institutions
- Data collected from peoples’ #smartwatches, which can range from heart health to sleep patterns
