When you find something that works, you might as well put it on repeat! I'm on #4 of the #HinterlandDress and the #AshtonTop.
I find that each iteration teaches me new lessons.

  2. #MeMadeMay #HinterlandDress made from vibrant thrifted cotton. In the chaos of preparing to leave on a 4-week #camping #RoadTrip. Comfy driving dress for today’s 6-hour journey. #sewing #ItHasPockets

  3. #MeMadeMay Out and about running errands in my #HinterlandDress, a bit oversized, sewn with a vibrantly coloured thrifted cotton.

I've got the pattern for the #HinterlandDress and chose it because it's very hackable. I also bought the course, which I found helpful (pricey!) for figuring out various aspects of bodice fitting. Sadly, I haven't yet designed my perfect bodice but I have lots of used white sheets and #SewDays ahead so it will eventually happen. I really like the comfort of a dress that flares out above the hipline.

Same! I just need a pretty solid block of sewing time before I'll be willing to do something like multiple muslin trials. They're not very fun but they can certainly lead to something pretty awesome.
The 2 garments I'll make multiple iterations of are the #AshtonTop and #HinterlandDress. Getting close on the top.

  6. #MeMadeMay2023 @sewing #HinterlandDress Met a relative’s widow for supper in Kalispell #Montana. I managed to leave my #MossJacket there which I confirmed after the relative phoned the restaurant for me. I have data but no phone service in the US, apparently.

  7. Sewists: if anyone has experience with making a plus-sized Hinterland Dress (from Sew Liberated) and is willing to field some questions about your experience, I'd love to talk to you.

(For folks following along - the Bodice Fitting class isn't helping at all)

  8. #MeMadeMay2023 #HinterlandDress and #MossJacket. Dress sewn with batik and jacket sewn with thrifted sheets. Working on more garments at a 3-day sewing retreat. #ItHasPockets

I didn't line the #MossJacket. It's made from a sheet which was part of a box that I bought for $20 so I've had the opportunity to mess around with several patterns to get them sorted. I have linen for my next iteration. I have SO many hoodies and heavier jackets already. I mainly just need an extra layer to throw on when I'm chilled or going out. The dress is #HinterlandDress, made with batik after my #WearableToile turned out nicely. I have another batik for #3 #Sewing

As a relatively new garment sewist, I'm really trying to become proficient at a pretty small number of patterns. I prefer wearing garments that are relatively simple, and made of interesting fabrics/colours.
Getting better with #AshtonTop, #HinterlandDress, and I nailed #MossJacket first time around. I had an easy time making the #LimestoneLeggings top and now, I want to draft and make my own sports bras. Next up is #DawsonTop with knits.

  15. @Fredatron Probably use it for a skirt or a #HinterlandDress. I know that I used some of the white for #toiles but I'm not certain I saved any. I have so many lovely fabrics already in waiting, though...

  16. I've been SUPER happy with my patterns from #SewLiberated and #HelensCloset because they have amazing instructions and there's lots of advice available online. Still working my way through toiles of the #AshtonTop but I think it will work for a ton of my favourite fabrics when I've sorted it out. My #HinterlandDress is a true favourite.
I don't have money or space for my own serger and I can't imagine recouping the investment. The library #MakerSpace has them but they aren't available yet.
