🚨French MP Thomas Portes has filed a complaint (signalement) in 🇫🇷 #France under Article 40 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure against former Israeli army platoon commander Elitzur Gitler, concerning his alleged involvement in torture, war crimes and genocide in Gaza.
The complaint is based on an investigation by the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) in partnership with Urgence Palestine, documenting Gitler’s role in operations targeting civilians and protected objects during the genocide in Gaza between November 2023 and April 2024, including an attack on a children’s hospital and the demolition of two schools and a mosque.
Gitler is currently present in France to participate in the 2026 Roundnet World Championship in Paris (2–6 September 2026). The investigation was prompted by information received from FRACBI (the French Coordination for the Academic, Cultural and Sporting Boycott of Israel) regarding his presence on French territory.
HRF and Urgence Palestine are calling on the French government to immediately initiate a preliminary investigation, take provisional measures to prevent the suspect from returning to Israel, preserve the evidence, and ensure the investigation can be launched and carried out effectively.
