  1. Sunday morning Gospel session. Thousand or so early-rising Hillsiders joining 5-6 acts on stage for a session.

They had to put crowd security on the gate, we maxxed out on the allowed attendance.

  2. #Hillside is fully sold out for the first time in 14 years. We are up and on the island for Gospel Hour, with a thousand or so friends and family at the church of #HillsideFestival.

Day starts with the biggest session of the weekend, this year it ends with Angine de Poitrine (and I admit, I might not last that long).

  3. It’s gotten quite windy, and in typical #Hillside fashion, people are teaming up and meeting new friends as we help chase each others’ hats, lightweight chairs and untethered sun shelters as they blow away across lawns and down the pathways.

Our shelter is well ballasted by the immovable teen for now.

  4. Listening to the Magic Tuber String Band . @shuttermonster says “Appalachian traditional with a side John Cage”. Yep, that sounds about right. Very nice.

Some sad, rough stories in the music, even with few lyrics. Sounds from life near former coal-town and nuclear plant wastelands in North Carolina. Also sounds of how life does still go on in such places . #hillsidemusicfestival #hillside

  5. be the dense cluster of greenery against a stark and rocky hillside that you wish to see in the world

  6. Do France and February lead you to think about connection, love, and belonging?

For February, I’m thinking about how lucky I am to feature Janet Dyer's art here.

Thank you for supporting our #art and taking time to view, “Uphill Fields.”
