The HS musical is always the first full weekend in March.
How is there already near weekly drama!?!?

I've always gone along with it, but you can now count me among the True Believers in the curse of the Scottish Play.
Kudos & heartfelt thanks to the cast & crew who got up there and, after several excellent performances, closed their run with their very best under trying circumstances.
Trial by fire forges something, blah, blah, blah.🫤

So, tonight's opening night.
That means that Sunday will be strike, and Monday I will return from my month long absolute full focus on the show.
How's the world going?
-
Future generations will tell the tale of the Cursed (that's two syllables, mind you) Prop Staff from Hell, and how it was often fiery, sometimes breakable, but Always Broken.

Correct pyro effect execution during the last practices 7/8.
Correct pyro effect execution during elementary and middle school previews: 0/4.
This is why we practice, folks.
-
Even 13yo me knew #pyro takes practice.
The only thing worse than rushing this stuff is being forced to rush the teaching of others.

It's tomorrow again.
Time for bed.Lest you misunderstand, while it's true I hate much of what tends to happen over the course of these three weeks every year, I love hating it.
As the saying goes, 'if you know, you know'.

M7x.75 nut acquired! The show is saved!
(Stop laughing, this is a big deal.)
So tomorrow crew has exactly one dress rehearsal to dial up the sparks while dialing DOWN the fireball (both intensity and distance).🤞
-
Oh look, it's tomorrow.

Having somewhat fixed the janky wiring that sets off the (hopefully small) sparkly fireball, I am moving on to making the witch's staff look more appropriately ... druidic?
This stuff really COULD be fun.
You know, if the show wasn't this Thursday.

Looks like it's time to put my name on any tool I've gotten in the last twelve months...

Fall play is a wrap!
Bravo to everyone involved - you took a crazy idea, brought it to life, and made people laugh.
(Psst! Rest up! It's only a few short weeks until musical auditions!)

Tonight, it's "Spring Fusion" at Tupper Secondary. No playbill, sadly. #YVRArts #TheatreKids #HighSchoolTheatre #TupperArts

A group of #FortWayne #Indiana #LGBTQ teens and their allies are self-funding and producing their high school play after it was cancelled by their school administration among parental complaints.
The play starts tomorrow.
So far, they have raised over $80,000 for their $50,000 dollar goal and all their profits are going into a fund to support other teens who have their plays cancelled for similar reasons.
