The case was deemed insufficiently documented as #DOJ sought to recover billion$ in federal #research grants awarded to to the Cambridge Mass based U since October 2023 over alleged discrimination by the oldest university in the #UnitedStates. #DJT administration has separately tried to cut billions of dollars of funding for Harvard for alleged antisemitism and liberal bias. Last September, a different #federal judge ruled those moves to cut funds largely unlawful and ordered the U's research budget be restored.

The dominant partner in several of these arrangements is Global Banking School (GBS) which is also subject to an OfS investigation that opened in January 2026 regarding its partnership with Oxford Brookes University, examining compliance with conditions on course quality, management and governance. .An estimated 38,740 students are subcontracted in from five universities, with an estimated annual revenue of £300 million. The sole person of significant control is a UAE resident. GBS has no degree-awarding powers.“ -

In 2015, I proposed "custom" "University and Department Rankings" (https://byrdnick.com/archives/6451/philosophy-rankings-university-rankings).
I'm told the @nytimes made part of that vision a reality on March 27, 2023 with their "Build Your Own College Rankings". So I've added a note about this news in the "Updates" section my 2015 post about the importance of custom rankings.
