It's been a month since I set up #piCorePlayer with Lyrion Music Server (LMS) on my old Raspberry Pi 3 model B+ with #HifiBerry DAC Pro. Via the digital audio converter, the Pi is then connected to my stereo amplifier.
There's not really anything to look at. It's just a small box with cables in my combined bookcase/record cabinet.
At the same time, it's pretty great. 😍
Since I have no #streaming service subscription, this is a great way to play all the #FLAC and #MP3 files that I received with #record purchases, bought or received from #Bandcamp, and ripped from the CD's that I own. It also connects to Bandcamp, so you can listen to Bandcamp Weekly etc., or radio stations that broadcast online (, too).
Attached to this toot some screenshots of the desktop web version of LMS.
Submitting plays to #ListenBrainz via #WebScrobbler does not seem to work, so when controlling LMS via my laptop there are no scrobbles. -

2025, another great year of music.
Onto one more, in 2026!Digital music played on computer and phone, number of listens recorded via #ListenBrainz
On my to-do list for the upcoming weeks: set up my old #RaspberryPi with #HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro again to listen all of this at home, on my stereo.

Is there anyone else here who has run #Upmpdcli as a music player, and made songcast (synchronous music player for multiple devices, non-Free) work?
Overall I'm pretty happy with it, even without songcast, as the Renderers are solid and remember your playlist - it's quite nicely done. But I really want that whole-house-and-garage audio.
I have managed to sort of get a songcast session going (the control point android app, BubbleDS, requires you to pay to keep it going more than 15 mins, but if it works, I don't mind). But I cannot seem to make it come out the speakers anywhere.
If anyone wants to mess around with this and needs a bit of help with compiling and building or setting up the apt repository, I can give a hand getting your Pi up and running, if you can maybe help me figure out songcast. Hit me up.

Big amp vs mini amp 🙈
From a power perspective it’s no comparison, but the HiFiBerry MiniAmp along with PiCorePlayer lets me use AirPlay 2 to play music which is useful in my office.

A couple of weeks ago I got some of my AV equipment out of storage and set up my old amp and rear surround speakers in my office. The 40lb amp was complete overkill though (9 channels @ 140W) so I decided to replace it with something smaller.
Yesterday my HiFiBerry MiniAmp arrived so today I set it up with a RPi 0W. Sounds great driving the B&W M-1 speakers, and has far more power than I’ll ever use in the office. Really impressed!

Finally upgraded my #Volumio setup from the Pi Zero 2W to a Pi 4b. But after unsuccessfully getting my #Hifiberry DAC+ Zero to work on either setup, I'm thinking it might be time to send it back to them for a hardware inspection. Either way, it's great to have all my digital music back up!

I'm not a Black Friday guy, but if we had any money at all, I'd be excited that #Hifiberry is doing 20% off on all #RaspberryPi audio cards tomorrow.
