The Technics stack is growing. After shuffling parts around between a couple of disfunctional CD players I've got one that's mostly ok, but a bit picky about what discs it'll play back happily.
The sweet spot seems to be commercial pressings from the early 2000s which I don't actually have many of, so I guess I'll need to hit some second hand shops soon, haha.
It may just need some tweaking of the many adjustment pots, but I'll save that for some time when I've got the oscilloscope out.

Apple's take on lossless audio hints at a downward spiral. While it is true that many people don't have hearing, systems or headphones good enough to hear the difference, it does have a lot of importance to those who mix and master, or want to learn those skills accurately.
It is a lot like saying, ah, most people don't know how to punctuate sentences these days, so we intend to stop punctuation ... and then communication gets confused and muddier.
It is about something being the best it can be. I'm really not a fan of the USA trumpeting being 'great again' while eroding standards to the lowest it can get away with. Do better.

Question for the audio people here.
My 'setup' is a nice and big amplifier (Denon PMA-425R) that serves as a central hub for everything audio-related. My computer, CD player, record player, tapedeck and stage synth are all connected to their own input channels in the amp via stereo RCA cables (red and white coax, y'know the ones). The amp outputs to stereo loudspeakers and optionally my headphones.
The problem is that I can only listen to one input at a time.
I cannot listen to, say, my PC audio and a CD simultaneously.What's the most elegant solution here?
I imagine it's going to involve adding some kind of 'hub' before the amp to unify audio into one amplifier input, but I don't know what the correct words are to search for here, or whether that'd even work (after all, the non-amplified signals are super weak already).

Is there a tool which I can feed some sample track, which converts it into all kinds of bitrates and formats (including the CD original), so I can determine which bitrate is just enough for casual listening?
Like switching on-the-fly and gapless between any bitrate. -

Bose 901 Series IV with the chromed tulip stands, which are much harder to find.

hier nun das aufgerüstete Innenleben unserer Dual #cl20 Lautsprecher.
Wir mussten den Bass durch einen neuen Lautsprecher ersetzen.
Weiterhin waren die Lautsprecher innen mit 1,0 bis 1,5mm² Kabeln versehen.

Das macht keinen Sinn wenn wir die Zuleitung bis 6mm² ermöglichen.
Das wäre dann als würde man einen Feuerwehrschlauch an eine Gardena Kupplung packen.
Rechts sieht man nun die verlegten 4mm² Kabel von Sommercable (Made in Germany), die dafür sorgen, dass die Musik auch bis zu den Klangtreibern durchgeht.

FIiO and Eitr feed Gumby OG Multibit now. He plays well. Cymbals and drums may be a scoshi cleaner. Matches newer Mimir Singular DAC. Gumby is R-2R Ladder, to medical DACs per channel and fully differential output. Mimir is delta-sigma with fully differential OP-amp output. Both sweet but one is $1200 less than the other.
