#ZFS AnyRaid changes on the latest @25admins :)It's an interesting example of why the show makes for enlightening and entertaining listening even as someone who will very likely never be in a position where I need to professionally administer self maintained enterprise class storage.

My next NAS won't be a #Synology. I won't be buying hardware that is vendor locked. Maybe do some research into #HexOS? #PlannedObsolescence

Photo of Ubuntu Server Install So I finally started the temp server setup and immediately hit a wall due to formatting issues. Finally got everything set, started copying data over from the old server and realized that my soon to be server solution of HexOS (https://hexos.com) isn’t viable at this time. I need it to support more apps. So at least all I did was waste some time before I re-realized my goof. -
Taking #HexOS for a spin. Also checking out the Aoostar WTR Pro 4-Bay #NAS with the Intel N100. It's a VERY nice NAS. Aluminum chassis, easy to access memory and SSD, quiet 120mm fan. It runs #Immich very well and hopefully HexOS can become something I can setup for family and recommend to others without having to also be lifetime tech support. #homelab #TrueNAS

That's an OS for your local storage box...that needs a cloud account. Huh?
It's a reskin of TrueNAS. Huh?
They want 300 bucks for said reskin of TrueNAS. Huh?!
Sure, I understand that I'm nowhere near the target market for this product - but who is?
