Good morning and Happy Sunday!

Yesterday was a busy one. All day at Hersheypark with the kids for the final days of their Halloween events.

Cute and spooky stuff. My oldest two spent their time with a friend / girlfriend doing the spooky stuff. I did the cuter stuff with my 11 year olds.

Also, saw a pumpkin carved into the Straw Hat Jolly Roger at the park.

I'm always amused when I get the occasional email that someone bought this extremely niche sticker I recreated from a sign at Hersheypark on redbubble. There are dozens of us that find this mildly amusing!

Oh, since I went to Hersheypark with the kids yesterday - let me rate what rides I hit with them:
SuperDooperLooper - Fun, roller coaster. Simple, single loop, great for newer roller coaster riders. 6/10

Skyrush - Fast, fun, picks up speed quick. 8/10

Reese's Cupfusion - Literal on-rails shooter. Indoor ride in a cart with lightguns in hand shooting at candies trying to raid the Peanut Butter Cup factory. Fun, worth playing once, not worth the line to do again, tho. 6/10

Fahrenheit - The initial ride up triggered my anxiety as it's borderline 90°, but the ride itself after that was fantastic. 5/10 cause anxiety issues.

Wildcat's Revenge - Fun roller hybrid coater filled with corkscrews. Cool aesthetic with big cats. 7/10

Went up to Hersheypark with the kids all day yesterday, hence my absence from fedi. Re-upping my post from late last night when I got home.

So fun, but so exhausting. I crashed soon after making that post.

Today is back to work as normal through Friday.

Cedar Fair, and especially Cedar Point, are the most instrumental part of making me so glad that Hersheypark is my home park. I know people have their complaints but nothing is greater than being able to go to a park and not be nickel and dimed over things such as "rider safety".

Cedar Point should be ashamed of themselves.

A line from #Harrisburg, PA to Lebanon could stop right at #Hersheypark. And commuter service to Lancaster could allow the #Amtrak Keystone Service to run express and reduce travel times! Add a short line to Mechsnicsburg and Carlisle, and you’ve got a great network.

All three of these lines (and the Keystone Service) enter the Harrisburg Transportation Center from the southeast, so through service wouldn’t be sensible. But since the station has eight platforms, it should have enough capacity!

I'm at #Hersheypark, an amusement and water park, and the air quality is borderline dangerous to my kids because of wildfires in #Canada.

The last time we went to an amusement park was Coney Island during the massive wildfires on the west coast, which made it outright dangerous (5x this level) for anyone to be outside *in New York*

This is not the #climate future; it's the present

RollerSoaker was a custom Setpoint roller coaster prototype at @hersheypark that combined the thrill of a roller coaster with the thrills of a water slide (early 2000 marketing campaigns were wild).

While Setpoint and Hersheypark hoped this first-of-its-kind design would be popular, the ride was continuously plagued with issues, and it closed to the public in 2012 after 10 years of operation.
