And in other news, here is a fresh story about #HeritageCrime #HeritageVandalism in our immediate neighbourhood. When they say that Wales is the playground of English tourism, it's not really logical, because you wouldn't treat a playground as a trash dump, would you?

So last night I learned that some pieces of World Cultures jewellery got stolen from a museum I used to work at and I'm oddly upset about it.
I didn't expect such an emotional response to seeing items I'd held, condition checked, packed, and done light work on go missing.
Has anyone else had this weird vibe? I see #HeritageCrime reported all the time but this was my first gut-punch reaction (there was anger too, of course).

The US has returned its first antiquity to #Palestine, a 2,880-year-old ivory spoon believed to have been #looted from an archaeological site in the Palestinian village of Al-Kum. A repatriation ceremony was held in Bethlehem in the West Bank.

...#TombRaider! Indy is literally raiding a tomb here. More on Lara-ism later, but for now here's another ancient corpse in armour. Sea-eels burst out of it.
#horror and #heritagecrime combined! <chills>

CW: Russian invasion of Ukraine: ICOM heritage "red list"
I see that International Council of Museums "has launched the Emergency Red List of Cultural Objects at Risk – Ukraine in an effort to help protect endangered cultural heritage of Ukraine for future generations in light of the recent invasion by Russian forces."

Anyone interested in an @artcrime group? Only a few #ArtCrime, #ArtLaw, #HeritageCrime, and #IllicitAntiquities people are here so far, but why not group the group as we group?

I'm hoping to connect with other #HeritageCrime or #ArtCrime scholars, perhaps from #archaeology, #anthropology, or #law? I work in rare books and know there aren't many in my manuscript focused community, but I'm shooting my shot for a hashtag that would collect us like my beloved #BookHistodons. Such is the #interdisciplinary life.

In a rare instance (ba dum tiss) of timely insight, I've changed instances to #hcommons before making too many posts! I suppose reintroductions are in order.
I'm a PhD candidate studying the sociology and structure of the #RareBookTrade specifically focusing on #manuscripts , #fragmentology , and #bookbreaking. Here's hoping those tags fill up more! My background is in #materiality and #ManuscriptStudies, and I'm a private librarian by day. Part of #medievodons and #BookHistodons. I mostly post about #HeritageCrime of various forms, plus some photographic experimentation (and cats, of which I have two).
Pleased to meet you all!
