  16. The new possibilities of deciphering the #Herculaneum papyri with #AI will have a deep impact on our understanding of #Epicurean #philosophy as many of the up until now lost texts were written by #Philodemus who was a known Epicurean at the time and the owner of this library.

    A new technology can "unwrap" images taken through objects, as X-Rays do, but peeling the layers like onions, to read ancient texts.

    Spoiler: This one turned out to be the Biblical Book of #leviticus

    One of the most important scrolls of the ancient world, it has been "read" without ruining the fragile scroll from En-Gedi.
