  1. /2 #photography #construction #steels A long time ago, I was 'trade'. Contractor & ltd. company. Loved every minute. I know exactly what's occurring here. The #HenryVII visitors, study centre (bloody #Tudors!) & 'community' centre. Another tourist honeypot in the centre of #Pembroke. Squillions of £'s, now overrunning, over budget and for the benefit of whom pray tell?

  4. Two anonymous 17th Century ballads describing the purported evil deeds of Richard III, the murder of the Princes in the Tower, and the Battle of Bosworth Field, which was fought #onthisday in 1485.

  9. #OTD 1457, in the fortress of Pembroke Castle, a young woman, not yet 14 bore a son. The mother, Margaret Beaufort, was 2nd cousin to Henry VI and she named her son in his honour. She was also the widow of the king’s half-brother, Edmund Tudor, Earl of Richmond. It is unlikely that at the time of his birth, anyone foresaw that young Henry Tudor would become King Henry VII. Read more on him here. bit.ly/1RCUldq #histodons #henryvii #pembrokecastle #historyofroyalwomen #tudor

  11. #OTD 1496 d. Jasper Tudor, Earl of Pembroke & Duke of Bedford died. Jasper can probably take the lion’s share of the credit for his nephew, Henry VII's ultimate triumph in the Wars of the Roses. Second son of Catherine de Valois and Owain Tudor, Jasper had been favoured by his half-brother, Henry VI, and was unfailingly loyal to the House of Lancaster. bit.ly/259dT0g #tudor #henryvii #warsoftheroses #histodons #jaspertudor

  13. #OTD 1487 Elizabeth of York was crowned. She had been married for nearly two years, but first pregnancy, then the Lambert Simnel affair had delayed her coronation. Elizabeth has been seen as the ideal mediaeval queen – fertile, pious, not openly involved in politics, and devoted to her family. More on her here. bit.ly/339DKLc #elizabethofyork #henryvii #henryviii #history #tudor #queens #histodon #historyofroyalwomen
