Set up your bot to play a subtle sound whenever a new chat message arrives.

But don't have it captured on stream, e.g. by directing game audio to a muted speaker and only recording that, while monitoring it to your headset so you can still hear it, then playing the sound explicitly on your headset.

This means that if you sink into the game and forget to check chat, you get an audible reminder to do so when it's important.
