  1. Filipino Housekeeping Services In Japan Gaining Popularity

In Japan, housekeeping services whose workforce involved Filipinos are gaining popularity and public trust as the nation has growing demand for such support, according to a news report by Kyodo News. The report mentioned the cheerful personalities and diligence of Filipino workers.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the report of Kyodo News. Some parts in boldface…

Housekeeping services employing Filipino staff have gained in popularity amid growing demand in Japan for such domestic support, with one provider seeing their workforce roughly double over the past decade.

Since the Japanese government began allowing foreign nationals to provide housekeeping services in national strategic special zones in 2016, workers from the Philippines have been a top choice due to their cheerful personalities, diligence as well as expertise.

In February, a Filipino housekeeping staff member listened carefully to her client’s instructions as she made her on-site debut around a month after arriving in Japan. She assiduously took notes as the client explained in a mix of English and Japanese how to use cleaning tools and the order of detergents.

(Filipinos) are friendly and easy to talk to and they work seriously, so I can feel at ease,” the client said.

Before 2015, only certain households, such as those of foreign diplomats, had been allowed to employ foreign housekeepers. But a legal change that year, aimed at increasing women’s workforce participation and easing labor shortages in Japan’s housekeeping industry, paved the way for foreigners to work in designated areas.

Following the law revision, Tokyo-based Pinay International Co. launched a business especially employing Filipino housekeepers. It now operates in parts of Tokyo, neighboring Kanagawa Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture and Hyogo Prefecture with more than 200 Filipino staff working as full-time employees.

The company recruits workers in the Philippines and provides extensive training before and after their arrival in Japan, while also supporting their daily life in areas such as housing.

“Foreign talent playing an active role will likely lead to revitalizing Japan,” Pinay International CEO Tetsuya Moteki, 55, said.

According to a survey by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan’s housekeeping services market has been expanding as the number of dual-income households increases.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? Do you think more Japanese households will trust housekeeping service providers once they realize their workforce includes Filipinos? What do you think makes Filipino housekeeping workers more trustworthy compared with those from other nations of Southeast Asia?

  2. #ICE #helpers #helping #ayudanderos

Sooner or later ICE goonsll swarm your own city. Minneapolis has shown us all how to resist wheen that happens. They made it up on the fly. The rest of us don't have to. We can learn from Minneapolis. We can organize in advance. Flooding the streets with protestors is not enough. Neither is being gunned down in cold blood on TV. We need to be able to feed those who can't leave their homes to shop for fear of being nabbed by ICE, just like the people who fed Anne Frank and her family shopped when they couldn't go outside to shop for feaar of being nabbed by Nazis.

These people are called "helpers" (in Spanish, "ayudanderos". Minneapolis has showed us the way. It *can* be done.

Setting up networks of helpers in advance is as simple as setting up phone trees was back in they day, easier actually. Call your friends. Start with neighbors, parents, PTA members, and churche members. Get a committment from whoever is willing to help. Organize. Make plans. Stockpile food, medical supplies, etc. in advance. Divide up areas of responsibility geographically so there's no redundance and everywhere gets covered. Set up a fundraising campaign. Stockpile food, medical supplies, etc.

There is no need for a single organization to oversee the distros. Anyone can set up an autonomous crew. We need two, three, many autonomous distros. That's what phones are for.

If ICE follows you, don't lead them to their intended victims. Lead them in circles. Waste thier time. If they pull you over don't physically resist. Save your righteous anger for later. There *will* be a later. Nuremberg style trials *will* be held. They'll all be legal. As much as the ICE goons morally deserve to be cruelly lynched, don't do it. The last thing Ameicans need to do is to start killing each other en masse again. It would get out of hand rather quickly. #CivilWar2 wouldn't be fought between states or regions. It would be fought between neighbors. It would be a bloodbath. It would also be America's national suicide. The world would pick our bones and we'd deserve it. A lot of people think we deserve it already.

"He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight."
    -- Sun Tzu

Now is not the time to fight. Now is the time to feed people.

Here's a sample what is happening in Menneapolis that we can learn from:

In the long run, logistics has far greater importance than tactics and strategy. Without logistics, tactics and strategy don't happen.

  3. Did you know that you can quickly and safely (near-losslessly) compress PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, and AVIF images by running one command?

    npx image-guard

(Handy to speedily compress photos, for example.)

Did you also know that Image Guard is easy to automate, to ensure no needlessly large images in a codebase? (This comes before and speeds up micro-optimization.)

I developed this at a former company and have since optimized it further:

    npmjs.com/package/image-guard

  6. This #censorship is not surprising from #Musk, but we all need to reach out and encourage folks to join us on #mastodon. We need people to communicate securely about their experiences with mass government firings, security breaches, and total loss or privacy with the capture of all our financial data across multiple agencies #Treasury #IRS #socialsecurity #SBA. 7. This is more of a rhetorical question for the family, but here's a question that came up using .

How could I use helped to create a new binary sensor around the proximity of two other sensor's numbers?

Example, HA's proximity integration has "distance" sensors. If I wanted to create a "together" sensor that turns on when the two distance sensors are within 1 mile of each other.... can that be accomplished via helpers?

Nothing jumped out at me on first glance.
