So this is it, another metal journey done. And it was a good one. I could only assume what to expect based on the people I know who like Helmet a lot (mainly @trendskater and @jake4480 who have an excellent taste in music).

Starting off very post hardcory in the early 90s embracing a bit of nu metal and "alternative metal" (I hate this term) and then adding some grunge and weirdness later on while never really abandoning their roots. You can always tell that it's Helmet. And they don't have a single bad album.

So without further ado, here is my final Helmet studio album ranking:

I really really liked Dead to the World.
And on my way to the office I listened to the last Helmet album called Left, and I don't know what to do with it.

The start gives me weird 2000s hard rock and punk rock vibes and then it blends in some modern grunge. All of this sounds ok, but this was the first time listening to a Helmet album felt like a chore.

I really really liked Dead to the World.

Monochrome definitely was a bit of a return to the past. It brings back aggression and some rawness from the first 2 albums. But there are also parts from later albums, so overall it's a good mix.

@jake4480 is totally right, the first half of the album is really good, but then it gets a bit boring, not to say uninspired and generic.
Definitely not my favourite Helmet album. It's still good, but I prefer all the others.
