Agreed. #HellInThePacific (1968) is a GREAT #movie.

Mifune & Marvin play off one another wonderfully initially as combatants & later as allies & then again as antogonists w/o speaking the same language

I've got a DVD copy in English.

Just read on Wiki that there was an alternate ending in which they were presumably killed.

The other ending shows them terminating their alliance & then going their own ways to rejoin their respective forces.

I'll have to check to see which version it is that I have.
