@MarkHoltom There's an interesting history behind this oldest surviving bitumen #heliography: You show the enhanced reconstruction by historian Gernsheim who made it in cooperation with Kodak and prohibited to show the original ... because he made money with showing the original in exhibitions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/View_from_the_Window_at_Le_Gras
Unfortunately, the original was damaged in that time. Now it's protected in the Harry Ransom Center in #Texas: https://www.hrc.utexas.edu/niepce-heliograph/

@openculture Yes!! "#Niépce began experimenting with lithography and with that ancient device, the camera obscura, in 1816.
