"There's no god given right for a major party to stay a major party. You have to earn that."

You listening to your former leader Labour? If you don't step up next year - much more ambitiously than in 2020-23 - you've earned exactly what will follow.

"It's worth following ... the brave voices of people like Breaking the Silence, who speak for former [IDF] reservists who speak out and give testimony to what they saw and what they were required to do. Whether in the detention centres or on the field ... in the war zones."

Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un walk into a bar.
Or at least, they appeared together today for the first time at a military parade in Beijing. CNN describes the event as "China's superpower coming-out party". Mr TinyOrangeFingers naturally sees this as a threat to US superiority and messaged Xi.
"Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America."
Paranoid, much. But guess who else attended? Both John Key and Helen Clark. Anne-Marie Brady is being understated when she says our former leaders are sending entirely the wrong message.

"I think that as politicians we also have to look in the mirror and say; are we engaging the public? Because actually when the issues are put in front of people, and it seems like it's going to be a very important decision and there are real alternatives, turnout does go up."

#GuyonEspiner: "You'd hoped for a majority in 2002. The polls said it was possible."
#HelenClark: "I think with MMP it was probably never realistic. Whatever the polls said... kiwis in the end quite like the government not having it all it's own way, having to talk with others..."

The #podcast with #HelenClark #RestIsPolitics was incredibly insightful. I almost forgot how wonderful a human she was. More female politicians on the podcast please
Particularly interesting were the sections on transition to proportional representation (painful but worth it) and the value of funding arts, culture and heritage
