Just one more thing before you go. 😉 This is all besides the fact that >1/2 of the time they're not thinking about & reacting to you at all. They got shit going on, too.
The other personal insight I think I've had is that I may have accidentally developed empathy by figuring out ways not to trigger this phenomenon.
By intuiting what aspect of the model they had of me was true, so that I could lean into that and some of the potential friction in the relationship. The simplest version of this that I can think of is shared hobbies & interests but the reason and mechanism are in the previous posts.

It doesn't even have to be anything weird or gross. The effect is apparent as long as you suddenly don't fit into their model of you they've constructed from assumptions.
It could be something as simple as being an intelligent person with a country-ass accent. Or a logical scientist that's also interested in things without even the possibility of empirical proof.
A more common example would probably be being progressive in the South or a rural area.
Either way, it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with their preconceptions about you & the effort required to "reprogram your model".

Y'all...I just talked to my genius 70 year old Jewish-Russian-American friend for 4 hours about the 20th century. He left the Soviet Union in 1990 & had thoughts on everything from Kropotkin to an overview of Soviet Union history to the Holodomor to the Allies missed opportunity in WW2, the UN, the current state of China, to the Korean War to current Ukraine-Russia war.

Fox News taught MAGAMan that winning the argument is all that matters. There is no referencial reality or truth. The ability to instantly switch to the next "reason", which need not worry about validity or accuracy.

Remember the police chase event? Well, there were a metric fuckton of cops there. Some SWAT, the whole deal. In fact, they were showing off fire trucks, ambulances & a SWAT vehicle.
It's gotten quite heated in there, with the power out and cops on the way. MAGAMan is yelling about how they are trying to kill him in numerous different ways. He's being told to leave the property at this point and cops are on the way. You just know his lily-white ass is getting tazed or arrested, right?!?

The track had a huge showroom and classrooms upstairs in a solid building. We're not talking tornado here, just a strong summer thunderstorm.
They asked everyone to head to that area and most did. This loud mouthed redneck in one of those grayed out USA flag tshirt starts saying he's not going anywhere. That upstairs is not a safe place to be. 🙄
They suggested an alternative, down this hall in what would be the safest place during a tornado. Wouldn't you know it, he became covid conscious for the first time ever.

George Orwell & Peter Kropotkin
The short: Vitaly had only the highest praise for Orwell. Familiar with, but not read Kropotkin. This was because he wasn't a Bolshevik. It wasn't allowed to exist. 😅
He freaking loves Orwell. The books of course, but especially his other writings and essays in the Guardian(?) Says they aren't even teaching Orwell in USA schools and other "controversial" literature near to the extent they did even 20 years ago. (I would actually like to look into this for my own edification. Thoughts?)
He said that he was familiar with Kropotkin, but not read at all or informed to speak on him. This is because he was as much an enemy of the Bolsheviks as the capitalists.
To give you a better idea of Vitaly, I almost always see him listening to audiobooks of classic Russian literatures while repairing or refurbing an electron microscope.

Now some more about Vitaly. I don't want to misspeak about his exact position while in Soviet Union, but he was a government scientist with low level security clearance. It would've taken him over 10 years of his official salary to buy the illegal car that he wasn't supposed to own.
I mentioned before, but in 1989 he did not have indoor plumbing or a telephone. The only way that he was allowed to have a car that cost more than 10 years salary, was that he registered it in his mother inlaw's name. She was old enough to potentially accumulate that much money, had certain jobs, etc.

I am currently working on a piece of #HeirloomFiction and an #HeirloomAlbum. They both incorporate quotes and knowledge that I think are important, as well as little references to music and books that I love.

I've talked about the idea of #HeirloomFiction before because writing was the first method that I considered.
Instead, I think that I'd like to promote the idea of #HeirloomArt. This includes writing a piece of Heirloom Fiction, but could also include music, paintings or other visual art.
I'm starting to see the #ArtFED #AudioCollage album included in this. The themes and topics are all things that I would like to pass on in perpetuity.
